Stitching Futures: Creative Skills and Confidence Programme
Stitching Futures is a community-based programme of free fashion and pattern-making workshops delivered by Alton Fashion Futures CIC in the Edmonton and Enfield area.
The programme supports individuals who may be facing barriers to education, training, or employment, as well as young people referred through local schools. Workshops are delivered in accessible community settings, including sessions with a local PRU on Saturdays and an upcoming after-school club at a local school.
Each programme runs as a structured 7-week course, with approximately 10 participants per session. The programme repeats throughout the year, allowing new participants to join regularly and ensuring continued access to creative opportunities.
Workshops focus on creative patternmaking, fashion drawing, and understanding garment construction through practical, step-by-step activities. Participants develop confidence, problem-solving skills, and a sense of achievement in a supportive and inclusive environment.
The programme builds on a series of successful pilot workshops delivered in the community, where participants reported increased confidence and a strong interest in continuing creative learning.
